So far we plan to explain contributors how to translate text of WordPress and plugins from English to Latvian.

Contributing string translations to a current localization of WordPress is a great way to get started. With your help to localize WordPress it becomes much easier for other Latvian users to work with WordPress.

Another task for some people at contributor day could be to edit the videos from the first day. There are some easy steps, that everyone video lover can do; processing, trimming, naming, and uploading files to wordpress.tv. With many hands this task is done much faster.

One more idea is to check the new features of WP 4.9, specially test the Gutenberg editor, and report some bugs that we find.

Furthermore we plan to offer a help desk for WordPress users, if we find enough volunteers that are willing to offer this service. So, if you are interested to help other users and bloggers with some minor questions and answers, or if you have other good ideas to contribute, please contact us.

A WordCamp is a great event for the local WordPress community. One time in a year a huge crowd of local and international WordPress users come together to share news, to make new contacts and find new friends. Most WordCamps worldwide design their own logo for this event. And so did we.

For this years logo we took the historic coat of arms of the city of Riga, which has two lions on the left and right. We transformed the serious animals into relaxed lions and placed them at the sides of the WordPress W signet.

This logo shall reflect the joyful atmosphere that WordCamp Riga 2017 will have.
